Starry, Starry Night
with Steve Rand of the NH Astronomical Society
Saturday, December 13, 2025 – 5PM-7:30PM
21 Gregg St., Wilton, NH 03086

Join Steve Rand of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society for an engaging indoor exploration of the December night sky. From the comfort of a heated room, Steve will guide us through one of the most active celestial months of the year—highlighting the Geminid meteor showers and helping us identify well-known winter constellations, including Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and Draco. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or simply curious about what’s overhead, this presentation offers an accessible and fascinating look at the sky’s seasonal wonders.
Steve will also delve into the enduring mystery of the “Christmas Star.” Was it a rare planetary alignment, a supernova, a conjunction of meteor activity, or simply a story passed through tradition? Drawing on both scientific insight and historical perspectives, he’ll explore several possibilities and what each might reveal. This free, indoor program is open to all, and refreshments will be served. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can save you a seat!
