Coming from musical of traditional and classical music backgrounds\, the three musicians of Malvenn offer a refined and unique interpretation of the balfolk repertoire. With original compositions and arrangements of themes from Breton\, Irish\, and Québécois musical heritage\, the trio is shaping a new sonic signature in Quebec’s folk music landscape. Malvenn has performed events around North America including the Grand Bal du Québec\, the Flurry Festival\, and the Chants de Vielles festival. They have also toured extensively in Quebec and Ontario. SUMMARY:Luminaria Display - One Night Only
DESCRIPTION:For a few magical evening hours on every Sunday before Christmas (this year December 21st)\, scheduled to coordinate with the Town Hall Theater’s annual showing of It’s A Wonderful Life\, community volunteers light several hundred paper luminarias down both sides of Main Street making a truly magical walk for folks to enjoy. \nEach lantern has been individually decorated by community members\, everyone from school children to senior citizens. Every year we add some new ones\, but many have been used for several seasons and are lovingly regathered\, stored and repaired after the show to emerge the following December. \nMany thanks to Alene Candles of Milford who has donated the candles we use and to Wilton Main Street Association for their assistance with this project. If you would like to help with this family-friendly volunteer project on Sunday afternoon or evening\, please email me for details of how to participate.  I do hope if you’ve never seen the luminaria\, come downtown after dark this December 21st and feel the magic. Better yet watch the classic film at 4:30 and emerge from the theater to take in the spectacle. \nDonna\nPresident

From helping in hospitals and homes to guiding us through complex tasks\, robots and intelligent agents are learning how to better understand and assist people. \nIn this talk\, we’ll explore what scientists and designers are doing to make these technologies more capable\, responsive\, and human-aware. You’ll hear stories of robots that perform brilliantly—and others that don’t quite get it right. Through real-world examples from research labs and commercial projects\, we’ll discuss how context matters: when should robots act more like companions\, and when should they behave like tools? \nThere will be time for questions and conversation\, so bring your curiosity and join us for a fascinating glimpse into the evolving relationship between humans and machines—and what the future of collaboration might look like \nDr. Reig is an Assistant Professor at the Miner School of Computer and Information Sciences at UMass Lowell. Her research explores how artificial intelligence and robots interact with people in social settings\, how design can shape those relationships\, and how humans and AI can collaborate more effectively. She earned her Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University\, where her work was supported by a NASA fellowship.\nYou can find Dr. Reig’s website here: samreig.com \nDr. Tan is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Khoury College of Computer Sciences\, Northeastern University\, specializing in Human-Robot Interaction. Some sewing experience is helpful though not required. \nWhat Are Fidget Blankets? \nFidget blankets are therapeutic quilts to which different items have been attached or sewn on. These items offer sensory stimulation that has a calming effect on Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. The blankets alleviate boredom in the elderly and provide a means of performing repetitive behaviors that are often comforting and distracting. \nItems should provide different types of textures and different functions such as the ability to fold\, wrap\, rub or click items together. Colorful items and items that release scents are also useful on blankets.
